As great as the various Strumsticks sound, they can sound even better with a built-in electric Pickup. Here is the Spruce D-33 Strumstick with a Built-in Pickup. This page focuses on the Pickup details, and you can order here. You can see more details about the D-33 in general on this page. Also available with a Koa Top, $60 additional.
You can also add a pickup as an option on many of the other Strumstick product pages.
With a pickup, you can use a standard 1/4" Guitar cable to connect to an Amplifier, Powered Speaker, or an audio interface (for computer recording). You also will have access to the hundreds of electronic effects devices that exist such as pedals, stompboxes, or multi-effects devices. Some of the more useful effects for the Strumstick are Delay, Reverb (and Distortion if you want to push the Rock side of Strumstick... betcha didn't know there was one!)
About our pickup: We recently brought a regular D-33 with pickup to Amy Grant, at a venue on her tour. She was writing with an unamplified one and wanted one with a pickup for on-stage. She plugged it in at the soundcheck and the whole band was blown away by the sound. We recommend lowering the treble a bit, and increasing the bass a bit, and adding a little tasteful reverb, just for starters. You will be amazed too!
The pickup we use is a passive piezo-type pickup specifically designed for the Strumstick by Schatten Electronics. It does not require batteries or a preamp.
