As great as the D Strumstick sounds, it sounds even better with a built-in electric Pickup. 

A pickup and an amplifier offer much more than "playing louder". Music is about sounds, like painting is about colors. Having a pickup opens the door to a wider range of sounds. Its like having more crayon colors in your musical crayon box! We tested a dozen small amplifiers for the Strumstick. We wanted a battery powered small amp with great tone and a number of selectable effects built in to the amp, under $100. We found it!

The Amp: We think this Woodgrain GA One amp (by Justpro) sounds great with the Strumstick. It has more bottom end and a more natural tone than any of the other small amps we tested. See the 4 demo videos in the product images to hear how the Amp sounds (use earbuds/headphones for best quality.

Amp Features: Solid, hefty MDF body with surprisingly attractive woodgrain wrap. Heavier construction than most of the small amps we looked at. It has two speakers. Dimensions w7",h6.5" d4" Weight: 2 Lb 11 oz.  1/4" instrument input, 1/8" aux input, 1/8' Headphone output, USB type C port (charging and OTG Out), plus Bluetooth(yes, its a bluetooth speaker also. Effects: Some of the more useful effects for the Strumstick are Delay Chorus and Reverb, This amp has them onboard. See video demos.

EQ (tone controls): Just as important, this amp has separate Bass and treble controls (EQ).That is very useful for shaping the Strumstick sound you like best. We like to raise the bass and lower the treble for a warm, fuller tone.

The Pickup:Our pickup we use is a passive piezo-type pickup specifically designed for the Strumstick by Schatten Electronics. It  does not require batteries or a preamp. You can also connect to pedals, stompboxes, or multi-effects devices or an audio interface (for computer recording).
