Blues Strumsticks

Introducing a New Strumstick,
Optimized for playing Blues
No Wrong Notes , in a Blues context!

Blues Strumstick Prototype Demo

We added a couple notes and took a couple notes away from our classic Strumstick design, to get just the notes you need for a core Blues scale.
Technically the scale is based on Pentatonic Minor scale.
It's exactly the notes you need for one of the most widely used Blues scales, found in Rock, Country, Jazz, Bluegrass as well as the Blues.
It's tuned EBE, DAD, or CGC for playing in keys of E, D or C.
Play any sequence of notes on it, and you can't help sounding like the Blues.
The videos here and on the product page show some of what you can do with it, and they are just scratching the surface.

More Details: The BL-31 is a shorter scale length than the D-33, and we are using lighter strings too, so bending the strings for a true Blues effect is really easy. We are setting the action up nice and low, so you can over-play the strings and get some funky acoustic grit accenting if you want to. Padouk neck and body, Spruce top and Maple back.

I am having so much fun playing the prototype, I'm neglecting my other responsibilities. We will have some get-started instructions for it (if I can just put it down and do some writing!) Suffice to say, we should have made this years ago, but we are making it now, and it's a blast!

*About our pickup: its a piezo pickup by Schatten, custom designed for the Strumstick.1/4" standard jack, and no pre-amp required. We recently delivered a regular D-33 with pickup to Amy Grant at a venue on her tour (she was writing with an unamplified one and wanted one with a pickup for on-stage). She plugged it in at the soundcheck and the whole band was blown away by the sound. We recommend lowering the treble a bit, and increasing the bass a bit, and adding a little tasteful reverb, just for starters. You will be amazed too!
